A person is not a Jew who is one only inwardly, nor is circumcision merely outward and physical. No, a person is a Jew who is one inwardly; and circumcision is circumcision of the heart, by the Spirit, not by the written code. Such a person’s praise is not from other people, but from God. Romans 2:28-29
Paul gets to the crux of the matter here when he tells us that outward changes are not the only evidence we should look for of righteous living. Change begins inside, with changing attitudes; changing lifestyle coming later. Change from God’s perspective gets to the heart of things, so it is something that gets to our very core.
Have you wanted to see change in your life? Have you been striving to live in a way that you believe will please God? If so, you are to be commended. However, start with allowing God to change you inwardly. What you will see is this inward change bringing about the outward changes that God wants to see in your life. Concentrate upon changing from the inside out.
