Whoever watches the wind will not plant; whoever looks at the clouds will not reap. Ecclesiastes 11:4 (NIV)
What is stopping you sharing the gospel? What are you waiting for?
Perhaps you believe that there must be perfect conditions before you speak to others about Christ. The atmosphere must be just right. Perhaps you are a young Christian and you feel that your inexperience will make you ineffective. Perhaps you feel you need more training or Bible knowledge. Perhaps you’ve heard eloquent speakers and you know you don’t fall into that category.
Whatever it is, you just need to get started and let God empower you. Read the stories of Moses, Jeremiah and many others in the Bible who felt too young, not eloquent enough, or just plain frightened to stand up and speak for God.
When you honour God by sharing your faith with others, God will always honour it. You may not see the effect, but you can be sure that God will use your words and actions to good effect.
Look at the situation Paul, Silas and Timothy faced and which is recorded in 1 Thessalonians:
We had previously suffered and been treated outrageously in Philippi, as you know, but with the help of our God we dared to tell you his gospel in the face of strong opposition. For the appeal we make does not spring from error or impure motives, nor are we trying to trick you. On the contrary, we speak as those approved by God to be entrusted with the gospel. We are not trying to please people but God, who tests our hearts. 1 Thessalonians 2:2-4 (NIV)
Paul and the others could have waited until things were just right and the opposition had died down. Instead they remembered that in the end they were ‘… not trying to please people but God …’ So dare to share the gospel!
