The harvest is plentiful

imageAfter this the Lord appointed seventy-two others and sent them two by two ahead of him to every town and place where he was about to go.  He told them, ‘The harvest is plentiful, but the workers are few.  Ask the Lord of the harvest, therefore, to send out workers into his harvest field.

‭‭Luke‬ ‭10:1-2‬ ‭(NIV)

Read: Luke 10:1-12

Consider:  While we’ve been reading John’s gospel for the last week or two, I think a short break might be useful.  The reading above from Luke’s gospel should encourage us to see that God wants us to be involved in the work of winning souls for him.

When you read the words ‘The harvest is plentiful …’ how does it make you feel?  Excited?  Thrilled? Apprehensive? Worried?  Whatever your reaction, God has a part for you to play in spreading the good news.

Again, how do the words ‘… the workers are few’ make you feel?  The same feelings of excitement, exhiliration, or worry and apprehension may be there.

Although we are called to pray that God would send out workers into the harvest, it would not be right to see others as possible workers and not ourselves.  Ask God to guide you and others into whatever area of Christian work he has chosen for you and them.  Then have the courage to get involved.

Pray:  Father, we ask that you would call workers into the harvest to share the gospel.  Show me where you want me to be involved and give me the courage to do it.  Amen

Every blessing
